How do I spend most of my time?
January to May plus August and October my focus is on floral art competitions around Australia and once every three years somewhere in the world for the World Association of Floral Artists World Flower Show (the Olympics of flower arranging). The remainder of my time is for my various online ventures from repairing old books to public speaking.

What would I do if I were you?
Embrace every opportunity to learn from every industry – there are always ideas you can adapt for your own industry/situation.

How can you help me?
I feel enormous satisfaction in being able to express my views based on my life and work experiences to someone who is prepared to listen and visualise how those experiences might help them decide on a path forward. Your challenges shared with me help to show me just how much I have learned over the years, even when I didn’t realise I was learning these things!

Is this where I thought I would end up?
No way. I trained as an architect. Life presented me with other opportunities and challenges so I don’t regret the journey and this is not the end of it. As an aside, my floral art associates when looking at my designs will often say “how did you think of that – you always have a totally different spin to us”.

What used to be my greatest weakness?
Self belief. Using the phone is a close second – I’m still not very good at that.

Who else should you connect with?
Ask yourself what qualities you look for in the people with whom you associate, then find them in any industry. Think of the Six Degrees of Separation theory – you never know who will cause the ripple in the pond that reaches you.

What am I most proud of?
At the moment, my first Champion ribbon for floral art from the Royal Easter Show in Sydney. It took ten years of competition, learning and frustration but I kept my eye on the goal.

What professional organisations do I recommend?
Ones that keep you learning and growing across a range of skills not just the “look good on the CV” groups.

You should always email me with your questions – I am almost biologically attached to my tablet so you can be assured of getting a response in the shortest possible time.

My working experience:

10 years public sector (Commonwealth Government) in Human Resources Management and Training
10 years private and public sector consulting – Training, Quality Management Systems, Total Quality Management,  Staff Resources Restructuring
20 years business owner – Services, Retail, Online (including website development, marketing, fulfilment)
I have two sons, one in Sydney with his own two sons and one based in the US. The joy of being a grandmother is twofold – pride in seeing another generation and delight in hearing the woes of parenthood from someone who caused them earlier in his life!

What am I like?

I love travelling, walking and cooking.  I am fortunate that throughout my career I have done roles that I enjoyed. I love what I am doing right now and I always make sure that I get enjoyment out of everything I do.

I like working with people who are challenging as well as like minds. I appreciate other people, the more diverse the people I mix and work with the better. I love new ideas and new ways of thinking whether I agree with them or not.  I love continuous learning, I ask questions to get to know people and give my opinion without judgment.  I understand that not everyone is on the same path as me but that does not mean they are on the wrong path or lost.

I love sharing my experience with others, I am someone you can think aloud with confidence but without judgment. We, all at times, need guidance, motivation, emotional support and I am passionate about helping others explore their careers, set goals and develop contacts.
