John Alford

John spoke to us in May 2022.

John lives by the mantra “if you take care of your client, they will take care of you”. A principle that must work as he reflects on the multiple branches of client referral trees that have grown over the years as a way for clients to say thanks for the goals he has helped them achieve.

John specialises in making the complex seem simple, so that his clients gain a clear understanding of detailed investment, tax, and retirement strategies. His clients can sleep peacefully at night knowing their affairs are in place and being looked after. This is John Alford’s why.

John was a senior stock exchange trader running a 24-hour stock book around the world, making markets in specific stocks and managing large institutional accounts. At Prudential Bache where John worked between 1986 – 1990 one of his responsibilities included option trading and he spent time in New York establishing a market for News Corp on the NY Trading Floor. Since becoming a financial planner John has managed investment books for many of the firm’s clients and has developed a multimillion-dollar investment book.

John’s roles over his 35 years in the industry include: Junior Trader at Herbert P Cooper & Son; Senior Equities Traders at Prudential Bache; Financial Planners at Winchcombe Carson Financial Planning; Founder, Director, & Senior Financial Planner of Manly Financial Services Pty Ltd; Founder, CIO, & Investment Committee Member of Value Investment Partners.

John has been known to make the odd great tackle or line break on the rugby field, and enjoy the odd long lunch if the weather puts on a show in beautiful Manly on the shore of Sydney harbour in Australia.
